Pericallis appendiculata subsp. squamulosa possesses a dense covering of echinules on the phyllary bracts which is markedly different to the glabrous or near-glabrous phyllary bracts of all other subspecies. Whilst morphologically distinct, molecular data (Jones & al. 2014a) did not discriminate it from subsp. appendiculata with which it co-occurs in Hermigua.
Spain, Canary Islands, La Gomera. Endemic to La Gomera and restricted to the northern and northwestern parts of the island. It is common in laurisilva especially near Vallehermoso, Epína and Hermigua.
